Dillon Brooks cannot catch a break.
It was a wild postseason for Brooks as he saw his name trending a lot after trying to go head-to-head with LeBron James in the first round. Brooks took his confidence a step further after beating the Lakers in Game 2, calling out LeBron James for being old.
Huge mistake.
The Grizzlies were eventually eliminated by the Lakers as it became easy to defend the team with Brooks on the floor since he wasn’t much of a threat to score much.
On top of that, he will be wearing a different jersey next year. The Grizzlies reportedly informed Brooks the franchise has no plans on re-signing him when he enters free agency this July, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.
Now his name is trending after a rapper took aim at him.
Popular Chicago rapper Polo G recently dissed the forward in a freestyle:

“If he a lame like Dillon Brooks, I take him straight off the roster.”
Ouch.
Brooks is the longest-tenured player on the Grizzlies roster, spending his first six seasons in Memphis. Brooks emerged as a quality three-and-D player on the perimeter and sometimes an irritant for opposing stars, but his antics have seemingly may him expendable.
Brooks blamed the media for painting him as a “villain” in the first round while LeBron James later mocked him on social media after the Lakers’ six-game victory.
Brooks’ actions not only cost him a place in Memphis’ rotation but also likely tens of millions of dollars because of his poor play in that first-round series.
He might benefit from taking a one-year contract and keeping his head down and allowing his play to do the talking.
