With the trade window underway, rumors surrounding Kevin Durant have started floating. The Phoenix Suns had had high hopes after assembling the Big 3 of Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal, but it only ended in disappointment, especially in the playoffs. So, they would be looking for a major change to overcome the loss. As per Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report, the blockbuster trade could be Durant’s move to the New York Knicks.
According to Buckley, the Knicks have shown interest in Durant and approached the Suns. The trade might also include Knicks stars Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson. The Insider stated that the Suns would need assets to bring themselves back on track and the two could help fix their roster.
Randle has been out for a while due to injuries, but his presence undoubtedly brings a positive shift in the NY squad. The 3-time All-Star still has two seasons left of his $117 million contract and so does Robinson of his $60 million deal.
However, Buckley also added, “While there aren’t rumors suggesting it will happen, dealing the four-time scoring champion might be the only way for the Suns to unstick themselves from the thorny world that is the second apron.” Durant paired up with Knicks’ Jalen Brunson would be a sight for the other Eastern Conference teams to watch out for.
The 35-year-old has two more seasons remaining on his contract, which might either be taken care of by the Knicks or he could sign for an extension with the Suns.

The Insider stated, “Durant, 35, has two years left on his contract ($51.2 million and $54.7 million) and is eligible to sign a one-year extension, which would pay him $59.7 million in 2026-27, when the two-time NBA champion turns 38.”
The 14-time All-Star would turn 37 by the time his contract ends, which would allow him a year more because of the over-38 rule.
Durant is still at the top of his game, averaging 27.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 5 assists and 1.2 blocks this season. By keeping him on their roster, the Suns would benefit greatly on the offensive field.
