The Phoenix Suns suffered a 119-112 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday at Footprint Center despite Kevin Durant making history. The game marked Durant’s return after missing three contests, but his presence was not enough to lift the struggling Suns. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies celebrated a crucial victory, bouncing back from their recent defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
With the win, Memphis improved to 36-17, securing the second spot in the Western Conference, just behind the Thunder. On the other hand, the Suns continued their downward spiral, dropping to 26-27 and slipping to the 11th seed.
Kevin Durant Joins The 30,000-Point Club In The Phoenix Suns Loss To Memphis
While the loss was disappointing for Phoenix, the night was historic for Durant. When Durant entered the game, he needed 26 points to reach 30,000 career points. With his 34-point performance, Durant officially joined LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Dirk Nowitzki, and Wilt Chamberlain in the elite club.

Durant finished with 34 points, three rebounds, and three assists. Following the game, Ja Morant showed respect for Durant’s achievement by presenting him with the game ball.
However, the Suns struggled to capitalize on his effort. Bol Bol provided solid support with 18 points and 14 rebounds, while Devin Booker contributed 17 points and nine assists.
Ja Morant was the driving force for the Grizzlies. Morant finished the game with 26 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and one steal. He had help from Desmond Bane, who scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Jaren Jackson Jr. also contributed 17 points, while Brandon Clarke and Santi Aldama each added 14 points off the bench.
