Two teams have reportedly held trade talks with the Chicago Bulls on All-Star guard Zach LaVine.
The 28-year-old LaVine has been the subject of trade rumors for a while now. With the Bulls seemingly entering a rebuilding period, it makes plenty of sense to trade LaVine while his trade value is at its highest.
According to a report from K.C. Johnson from NBC Sports Chicago, the Portland Trail Blazers and Philadelphia 76ers have both discussed a potential trade for LaVine:
“The LaVine trade chatter isn’t going away. In fact, league sources said that LaVine has landed in preliminary conversations with both the Philadelphia 76ers and Portland Trail Blazers, who are working with James Harden and Damian Lillard, respectively, to find them new homes.
While neither of those conversations gained traction for now, the fact that LaVine continues to be discussed only underscores the speculation that multiple rival executives voiced to NBC Sports Chicago during the NBA Draft Combine in May: Will LaVine finish his five-year maximum contract with the Bulls?”
Trail Blazers’ All-Star guard Damian Lillard requested a trade last week, and he’s adamant about wanting to join the Miami Heat. If Portland ends up trading the seven-time All-Star and future Hall of Famer, they’ll have a gaping hole at guard.

The 76ers are likely to lose All-Star guard James Harden, who’s reportedly seeking a trade from the organization. A playmaking guard and elite scorer like LaVine could certainly help the 76ers replace the void left by Harden.
The Bulls acquired LaVine in a 2017 blockbuster trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves that sent Jimmy Butler to The Gopher State. LaVine has emerged as a star in the Windy City, earning two All-Star nods while averaging 24.6 points per game over his six years there.
