A petition is currently doing battle with a GoFundMe account, and it’s all over a suspended officer mocking LeBron James on TikTok.
Here was officer Nate Silvester in his since viral TikTok mocking the Los Angeles Lakers superstar following his post on the Ohio cop who shot and killed 16-year-old Ma’Khia Bryant.
“Dispatch, I’ve arrived at that disturbance. Will you have LeBron call my cellphone right away please? Thank you”
“LeBron, hey, yeah it’s me again,” Silvester says. “Listen, I’m out here at this disturbance call and there’s a guy trying to stab another guy with a knife. What do you think I should do?”
“Okay, well, they’re both Black. One guy is trying to stab another guy with a knife,” Silvester says. “Deadly force is completely justified.”
“So, you don’t care if a Black person kills another Black person—but you do care if a white cop kills a black person, even if he’s doing it to save the life of another black person?” “I mean, that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but then again, you’re really good at basketball so I guess I’ll take your word for it.”
A GoFundMe would soon be started by his best friend that informed people Silvester was suspended from his job without pay over his video.
“Hi, my name is Gannon. The recent viral TikTok video of a cop calling out Lebron James has cost the cop, my best friend in the world, Officer Nate Silvester a suspension without pay. He’s still got his job for now, but apparently the town where he polices didn’t find his TikTok as amazingly comical, and accurate as the 4.5 million viewers did, including some major news networks. The future is uncertain. I just don’t want to see my friend lose out on any money for this, when it was meant to be satirical, and to point out an obvious flaw in Lebron’s logic. Please donate what you can contribute. Every dollar helps! Thanks!!”

That GoFundMe currently has over $356,000 on it.
Fast forward to this week and somebody has now created a petition on Change.org to get that GoFundMe account taken down.
It reads as:
“In the weeks following George Floyd’s murder by Minneapolis police, GOFUNDME announced a “We Stand Together: Supporing Justice + Equality” Campaign along with a statment from CEO Tim Cadogen which included the following words:
“The issues people are voicing are deep-rooted and require meaningful change. We understand that to drive change we must get involved and take action. To help drive that change, today we’ve created the Justice + Equality Fund to support organizations and people that are dedicated to addressing both urgent needs and systemic problems… We are committed to a sustained effort to create change and look forward to working with you to help our society become more equitable.”
These statements are obviously nothing but more fake pledges designed to allow GoFundMe to profit off of systemic oppression.
DEMAND GOFUNDME REFUND ALL MONIES COLLECTED BY OFFICER SYLVESTER THUS FAR AND CANCEL HIS CAMPAIGN, CEASING ANY FURTHER INVOLVEMENT OR SUPPORT.
PLEDGE TO REMOVE YOUR OWN CAMPAIGNS FROM AND CEASE ALL FURTHER DONATIONS THROUGH GOFUNDME FOR ANY ENDEAVOR SHOULD THE SITE CONTINUE TO HOST OFFICER SYLVESTER’S DISGUSTING PLATFORM.”
That petition is getting closer to having over 1,000 signatures on it.
