The New Orleans Pelicans are trying to create a possible dynasty with two prominent players in the NBA Draft.
The team is curtained to take Zion Williamson in Thursday’s NBA Draft, but they reportedly have plans to get the #2 pick and get his former Duke Blue Devils teammate R.J. Barrett.
The Pelicans currently have the #1 and #4 pick in the 2019 Draft, but Barrett is expected to be gone before that second pick.
Via NY Post:
“According to an NBA source, New Orleans has explored moving back to gain more assets and also had internal talks about moving up to the second pick to take Memphis’ selection and draft RJ Barrett to team with his Duke compadre Zion Williamson. Barrett and Williamson are best friends.”
The Pelicans have a wealth of talent after getting Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, as well as numerous draft picks when they sent Anthony Davis packing to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Grizzlies would likely ask for a lot to give up that #2 overall pick which would most certainly have to include the likes of Lonzo Ball.
