When the New Orleans Pelicans landed the No. 1 draft in 2019, the moment truly was a high point for the team as they knew Zion Williamson would change the direction of the franchise.
Instead, his career has been more about his injuries and now off-the-court drama regarding adult stars.
A potential trade option could turn the franchise upside down yet again as it may involve Williamson.
According to Shams Charania, the Pelicans will “aggressively pursue” acquiring a top pick, as high as No. 2 or 3, in the upcoming NBA Draft. The team is targeting G League point guard Scoot Henderson.
Henderson averaged 16.5 points, 6.8 assists, and 5.3 rebounds for the Ignite last season.
To get that pick, the team may have to part ways with Zion to get it done. On the court, Henderson is as heralded as Williamson was in the 2019 draft. Off the court, he seems to show traits that the Pelicans have been trying to pull out of Zion.

New Orleans has the No. 14 in this year’s draft, so moving up high means losing a big talent like Williamson.
