Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo is coming off another impressive season, finishing third in Defensive Player of the Year voting. Though Adebayo has yet to claim the coveted title, his defensive skills have earned him a reputation as one of the NBA’s top defenders throughout his career.
Former NBA star Paul Pierce recently highlighted Adebayo’s versatility on defense during an episode of All The Smoke. Pierce expressed his admiration for Adebayo’s ability to guard any position on the court.
“Bam Adebayo. I like him on defense. I watched him at the Olympics. You can put him on anybody. He can switch on the point guard; he’ll be physical with your big. He’s probably the most versatile defender in the league,” Pierce said.
Adebayo has finished in the top 5 for Defensive Player of the Year voting for five straight seasons. Last season alone, he led the Miami Heat in blocks 29 times, proving his ability to guard smaller players and dominate defensively against bigger opponents.
Kevin Garnett Praises Bam Adebayo’s All-Around Impact
On the recent podcast, NBA legend Kevin Garnett joined Paul Pierce in praising Adebayo’s all-around contributions to the Heat. Garnett believes Adebayo’s presence will be key to the Heat’s success, even predicting that he could lead Miami to new heights.
“He do so much other ****. Playpoint forward, he starts the playmaking. He can make a pass; he can play make. If you really want to talk about a constant player that does a bunch of ****, that don’t get notoriety in it, bro, Bam Adebayo,” Garnett said.

“He’ll be the reason Miami takes that crazy jump. I think he has another level in him, cause he can rebound and playmake. If he just takes a couple more summers and works on his offense,” he added.
With Adebayo, the Heat prepare for their season opener on Thursday, October 24.
