Retired Boston Celtics small forward Paul Pierce continued his verbal assault on LeBron James this week just days after he stated he should never be considered a top-5 player of all-time.
While speaking to Jay Williams, Jalen Rose, and others on ESPN’s “Countdown,” Pierce stated with confidence that James tenure with the Miami Heat ‘underachieved.’
“The Miami Heat, in my eyes, underachieved.
“That team right there — let’s be honest — when we saw that LeBron was going to Miami with D-Wade and Chris Bosh, did you not think they would run the table? It’s like, that team, nobody can beat them.”
James, Wade, and Bosh made 4-consecutive NBA Finals, winning back-to-back titles in 2012-13. The second championship was called out by Pierce because future Hall of Fame shooting guard Ray Allen saved the series with his miraculous 3-pointer against the Spurs.
Pierce, along with Allen, Kevin Garnett, and Rajon Rondo finally got the Boston Celtics back on top of the world by winning the franchises first title in 22 years by defeating Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2008 Finals.
