Paul George’s journey with the Los Angeles Clippers began with high hopes of leading the team to an NBA championship. However, things took a turn after the last season, as his relationship with the Clippers soured, ultimately leading to his departure.
George’s father, Paul George Sr., also expressed his disappointment with how the Clippers handled the situation. Speaking on the “Podcast P” show this week, George Sr. voiced his frustration with the team’s decision regarding his son.
“I thought Paul did a whole lot for the team. I think he gave them 110%, and what he was asking, it wasn’t a whole lot. But they saw something different. I was looking at going nextdoor [to the Lakers], but they already spent too much money,” George Sr. said.
Reportedly, George was seeking a max contract to stay with the Clippers. In the absence of that, he was looking for at least a contract like Kawhi Leonard. Unfortunately, the Clippers were unwilling to meet his demands, resulting in George’s decision to part ways with the team and join the Philadelphia 76ers.
“So he felt that that was a bunch of bull that they came at him with. And I wasn’t gonna sugarcoat it either. Yeah, I’m behind you 100%. If you’ve got to leave, we’re gonna leave,” George Sr. added.

“He had a good reason to throw the towel in. He could have stopped. When that happened, I was like, ‘Uh, he might have to look into doing something else now. He doesn’t take no for an answer; he doesn’t let nothing get in his way. He is not giving up,” George Sr. said in Podcast P.
Now, after a rollercoaster journey with the Clippers, George is preparing for his 14th NBA season with the 76ers. It will remain to be seen how George will bounce back and make an impact with the Sixers.
