This offseason, Paul George made headlines by joining the Philadelphia 76ers after taking financial advice from Lil Dicky. However, the biggest surprise came with Karl-Anthony Towns’ trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves to the New York Knicks, which has captured attention across the league.
During a recent interaction with reporters, George shared his thoughts on Towns’ move. Initially, he humorously referred to Towns as “awful” and “old” but eventually expressed a more sincere viewpoint regarding the trade.
“Terrible! Terrible trade! Karl is awful! He’s old. That was a bad trade to give up Julius (Randle) for KAT! Kidding. Obviously, KAT is one of my closest friends. KAT is, you know, he’s a good touch,” George said.
The Knicks found a clever loophole in the NBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement to acquire Towns. Though they had to part ways with Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo, George believes it was a fair exchange.
“I think it’s a win for a win to give up Julius for KAT. Both of those guys are very, very skilled and very good,” he added.

Following a training session on Friday, George highlighted the team’s defensive efforts as a major strength during their training camp.
“I think just our defense stands out, our first impression of what this team looks like. Just our defense with myself, Caleb, Kelly, we’ve been able to really cause chaos on the perimeter,” George said.
“That’s what I’ve taken away from the first couple of days of camp—the way we’ve been able to get out, shrink the floor, shut it down, and really lock up on the perimeter,” he added.
George will kick off his 76ers stint with a season-opener game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on October 12.
