Paul George signed with the Philadelphia 76ers on July 6, 2024, after considering offers from multiple teams. He made his debut with the 76ers on November 4, contributing 15 points, five rebounds, and four assists in a close 118–116 loss to the Phoenix Suns. Although George acknowledged that he made some bad evaluations in the game’s final moments, he still feels regret about his disappointing debut with the 76ers.
In a recent interview with Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, George offered an honest evaluation of his disappointing debut with the 76ers. He admitted that he played without being held back by concerns about his knee injury.
“It was bad,” George said. “The good thing about it, though, I was able to go out there and compete free of any thoughts of my body not holding up. I felt completely fine. That was the positive in it. But all around it was definitely a rusty game.”
Before the game started, officials announced that George would be playing with a minute restriction due to concerns about his conditioning. Despite this limit, the nine-time NBA All-Star exceeded expectations by logging an impressive 32 minutes on the court.
Kawhi Leonard’s Comments On The Future Of The Clippers After George’s Exit
George played five seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers before joining the 76ers. Now, the Clippers have two-star players remaining: Kawhi Leonard and James Harden. Although Leonard has not yet made his season debut due to inflammation in his right knee, he has expressed his thoughts on the team’s current state.
You don’t need that many stars to win. It’s about the amount of people you have around you. You need talent. If it’s three superstars, you still need those role players or piece players within that team to make you win a championship, even if it’s two or one [star] player. Leonard said in a recent interview with ESPN.
