NBA stars Paul George and DeMar DeRozan have disclosed some of what really took place on that yacht during the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The USA Men’s Basketball Team is always favored to win Olympic tournaments and brought gold back home that year. Still, the most memorable aspect of that trip to Brazil was the fact that the squad lived on a mega-yacht that they shared with the Women’s team, away from all of the other athletes.
DeRozan broached the subject on a recent episode of Paul George’s podcast, recalling the experience. You’d think that it was all high life when you hear “mega-yacht,” but for NBA players, it seemed like hell.
“That was a grind, I ain’t going to lie,” the Chicago Bulls star offered. “Once we got to Rio on the boat, it was like we were eating the same s**t every day. We couldn’t stand straight in the shower. Your room next to mine? I could hear your phone conversations.”
It wasn’t all bad, though, as they managed to have some fun during the ordeal. The players recalled partying and rapping all on their own in a club on another boat.
“They had a club on the other boat. But it would just be us in the club. I got videos on my phone,” DeRozan added.

The chemistry would help Team USA cap off the visit with a gold medal win in a final against Nikola Jokic’s Serbia, with the victory a marginal 94-91.
