After spending 12 seasons in the NBA, Patrick Beverley recently made a significant career shift by signing a contract with Hapoel Tel Aviv in the Israel League. However, Beverley continues to face criticism from fans, particularly for a comment he allegedly made about Stephen Curry that has lingered due to Curry’s ongoing dominance in the NBA.
According to reports, Beverley once told Curry, “The next five years are mine.” This remark sparked backlash, especially as Curry continued to establish himself as one of the greatest players in the league. But during a recent episode of his “Pat Bev” podcast, Beverley addressed the situation, clarifying that he never made such a bold statement
“It was like, ‘Nah, you had your time, and now it’s time to switch it up.’ It wasn’t never like a five years. But it was good. You know me, I’m like, ‘Okay, let me run with this,’” Beverley said.
“The Internet is the Internet, and people don’t understand what the Internet’s like. Good or bad, the Internet is going to be the Internet,” he added.

Before clearing up his earlier remarks about Stephen Curry, Patrick Beverley stirred up more controversy on his Pat Bev podcast with a statement involving Curry, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and Michael Jordan.
“Steph Curry’s, LeBron James’s, Kobe Bryant’s, Michael Jordan’s—those guys come all the time. We might not understand it,” Beverley said.

Beverly, who recently stirred controversy with a religious stereotype, continued suggesting that certain other players bring something unique to the game.
“And we might say, ‘Oh, all those guys are a dime a dozen.’ Look up. ‘It’s the next Derrick Rose. It’s the next [Russell] Westbrook.’ There’s only one Draymond Green, only one Pat Bev, one Dennis Rodman. I put Marcus Smart up there. I put Jrue Holiday up there. Derrick White,” Beverley added.
Beverley’s comments sparked debate, particularly for how he positioned these great NBA players. It’ll remain to be seen how he responds to this criticism.
