Patrick Beverley is not happy with the Los Angeles Lakers supporters. The former NBA star has recently called out the team’s fan base for unnecessarily scrutinizing their own players. It is quite new to hear something about the Lakers supporters dragging down their own superstars.
Beverley recently stepped up to call out Lakers fans for the way they treated Russell Westbrook during his time with the team. In a post on X, he didn’t hold back, pointing out that the moment Westbrook struggled with his shooting, the fans would go after him relentlessly.
“They talk so bad about their players that they actually decrease their value. So now, when a trade comes, ain’t nobody just giving you sh*t. No one’s trying to help the Los Angeles Lakers. We know you guys want this guy—he’s a second-rounder for every other team, but to the Lakers, he’s two first rounds. But when you have a fan base, a guy shoots bad, and they crush guys, they decrease their value,” Pat Bev said.

After spending a season with the Lakers in 2022-23, where he played 45 games and averaged 6.4 points. Beverley saw firsthand what it’s like to be under the microscope of a passionate fan base. He was there during a rocky period for the team, particularly for Russell Westbrook, who struggled to find his rhythm alongside stars like LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Beverley expressed frustration over how quickly fans turned on their players. According to him, such intense criticism can seriously harm those players’ market value when it’s time for trades.
Patrick Beverley Is Happy For D’Angelo Russell Trade
The Lakers recently traded D’Angelo Russell and some of the fans as well as NBA stars are not siding with the decision. But more than the franchise’s decision, it was his let-down performance that led to the trade. On pretext of the trade, Beverley has thrown some praise at the Lakers for their recent trade that brought Dorian Finney-Smith from the Brooklyn Nets.

“D’lo to Nets is good for him and the team.Nets will be able to compete still. And he gets to hoop. Finney-Smith to Lakers idk about that tho,” Beverley tweeted.

Finney-Smith to Lakers idk about that tho
But there’s a catch. Bev’s excitement seemed to be more about what this move means for the Nets than for the Lakers. He believes that D’Angelo Russell is going to thrive in Brooklyn, as the team will allow him to break free from the overcrowded talent pool he faced with the Lakers. Beverley points out that this is a great opportunity for Russell to reignite his career and really shine again.
“D’lo to Nets is good for him and the team.Nets will be able to compete still. And he gets to hoop. Finney-Smith to Lakers idk about that tho,” Beverley tweeted.
Although he’s a bit skeptical about Finney-Smith joining the Lakers, wondering how well he’ll adapt to the team and the competition he’ll face from other forwards, the Lakers’ bringing Finney-Smith into the mix could be a game-changer. They are looking to tighten up their defense, which has been a bit of a weak spot for them this season. They rank 19th in the league at the moment, and adding Finney-Smith’s skills on that end could provide the spark they need.
