Naturally, Bronny James is in the spotlight with his decision to forgo playing collegiate basketball to stay eligible for the NBA Draft in 2024. James Jr.’s father, LeBron James, is said by some to be the sole reason he gets given opportunities. Before any NBA team considers picking the former USC guard, many of his detractors argue that his abilities need more time to improve.
The draft’s prevailing topic now is nepotism. The only thing the younger James can do in response to those allegations is demonstrate his merit for a spot in the world’s largest basketball league. With a robust Draft Combine performance, he accomplished precisely that, making analysts reevaluate their assessment of the former Trojan’s potential.
The NBA’s potential debut of Bronny James might not be the most remarkable example of nepotism. Pick Swap Media’s Sean Barnard promoted a different moniker that more than challenges James Jr.’s argument:
“Shout out to our guy JZ Zaher who is sticking in the draft from Bowling Green. [He] averaged a whopping 0.7 points per game on 12.5% from the field this season. His uncle also happens to be the owner of the Pistons. Bronny may not even be the worst example of nepotism in this draft.”
JZ Zaher averaged 0.7 points per game while playing 4.3 minutes per game for the Bowling Green State University Falcons in five games. He also played two games and had zeros in every game during his one-season stint with the Eastern Michigan Eagles. His 1.0 MPG was the only thing that broke up the monotony of his Eagles line.
Rich Paul, Bronny James’ Agent, Maintains That His Client Shouldn’t Be Concerned About Nepotism
Rich Paul, the agent for both LeBron James and Bronny James, took a firm stand against claims of nepotism. In response to critics, the CEO of Klutch Sports dismissively stated, “America is built on nepotism.”

Paul used an example from outside of basketball to support his claim. He discussed Jeff Bezos of Amazon and how his actions will affect his children’s situation. During an interview with Chris Haynes of TNT, the well-known sports agent stated:
“Bronny shouldn’t apologize for who his dad is. But as far as the sports people having an opinion, they have every right to have an opinion, and they have every right to critique Bronny’s game”
Bronny James is being drafted for both business and non-business purposes. Whether JZ Zaher can take that path later this month is still determined.
