Nikola Jokic reaches 14,000 career points with a ring sparking GOAT debate
The Denver Nuggets’ Joker recently reached 14,000 career points in the NBA. It would be a commendable and very normal achievement if it was any other player in the NBA, however, in the case of Jokic things are different. He already had an NBA championship under his belt before he reached this milestone.
This has sparked debates about Jokic being a potential candidate for the GOAT conversation of the NBA. For a long time, Michael Jordan and LeBron James have been the ones to be an active part of the discussion. However, Jokic’s recent accomplishment is ahead of them both. Jordan reached a 14K career point milestone a season before his first NBA title win, whereas LeBron did the same two seasons before his first ring. Jokic has them both beat by having a ring before reaching this milestone.
Nikola Jokic has garnered a massive fan following in all these years. The people in the community love and so do many analysts. However, not everyone is a fan of him as former NBA star Gilbert Arenas recently called him out.

“Jokic is probably, statistically, when it comes to the overall game, worst MVP winner in last 40 years… The people who won the MVP, their teams were first or second,” said Arenas. He argued that Jokic did not deserve the award in 2021 as his stats were not extraordinary and his team was also not in the top 3 that season.
