When the Lakers came to town, the Denver Nuggets welcomed them with their customary whooping. Despite failing to stop LeBron James from achieving his crowning moment of 40,000 points, Nikola Jokic and Co. made sure to send the legend home with a loss on the ledger.
Though, in a behavior fitting to the King, LeBron bore no ill will towards the excellent Serbian who dished out the pain. To meet the King’s courtesy, Jokic responded in his regular nonchalant tone.
Jokic responds to LeBron praise
Receiving praise from a legendary figure is a dream for every NBA player, and especially if it comes from LeBron, then it adds up to perfection.
LeBron James has never shied away from expressing his views and complimenting the budding stars along with his contemporaries. After a 124-114 loss to the Denver Nuggets, the 4-time NBA Champion showered Nikola Jokic with praises calling him the “biggest threat.”
LeBron said, “They have five threats on the floor at one time. And their biggest threat can do everything, and that’s Joker. That’s what makes it very challenging.”

When LeBron was asked whether or not there was any answer for the Denver center, Bron said, “No. There is none.” He also added that there are very few players who have the same qualities Jokic possesses. Meanwhile, Jokic keeps awing people with his game week in and week out.
Receiving the compliments from the NBA greats meant a lot for Jokic, as he expressed when asked about it. The last year’s NBA Champion amusingly said, “But they need to say something nice, they’re not going to talk sh-t.” Acknowledging the values the veterans still hold in the league, Jokic added, “But yes, I appreciate it of course. Especially from those two, who are probably still the face of the league, and they’re still putting up big numbers, and still make a difference in the game… So of course it means a lot.”
While Jokic has received some heavy praise from the Lakers great, the Serbian also did not shy away from showering praise on Jusuf Nurkic.
Nikola Jokic praises Jusuf Nurkic
After the OT defeat to the Suns on March 5, it was Jokic’s turn to be the one to praise. During the game, the Suns center acted as a great equalizer to the 6’11” Serb. Jokic ended the game with 25 points 16 rebounds and 5 assists, but an inspired Kevin Durant made sure the Joker doesn’t get the last laugh.
In the post-game media session, Jokic had some encouraging words for the 29-year-old and said, “He can defend really well. he’s a big guy who can in some situation switch 1-5. Monster on the glass. he’s a great fit for them and he’s embracing his role.”
While there is no imminent concern regarding the performance of the defending champions, their next opponent can well and truly test their title bid. The Nuggets welcome East Conference toppers, the Celtics to Ball Arena on Thursday. The Celtics will be eager to bounce back from their narrow defeat to the Cavs but Nikola Jokic and Co. have the same thing in their mind.
