The Kings still have a run of games left, but they need to make the most of them before the postseason starts. Sabonis leads the NBA in doubles and triple-doubles (71 and 26, respectively).
Nikola Jokic needs eight more “triple-double” plays to surpass Magic Johnson
Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets have taken the lead in the Western Conference as the regular season comes to a close. Jokic finished with 19 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists. Meanwhile, Michael Porter Jr. scored 20 points, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had a game-high 24 points for the Nuggets (54-24), who have won three straight and are now a half-game ahead of the Minnesota Timberwolves in second place in the Western Conference.
Denver outscored Atlanta 31-24 in the fourth quarter, and Hunter Tyson’s layup matched the Nuggets’ season-high in points. Jokic needs eight more “triple-double” plays to surpass Magic Johnson, the legendary superstar of the Los Angeles Lakers, for third place on the all-time list.
