Stephen Curry made a memorable debut in the Olympics, helping Team USA secure their fifth consecutive gold medal at the Paris Games. Curry’s performance was exceptional, especially in the semifinal and final games, where he played a crucial role in leading his team to victory.
While Team USA featured 12 NBA stars, Nigel Hayes-Davis also had the opportunity to wear the Team USA jersey, albeit in a limited role. Hayes-Davis recently shared his experience of training alongside some of the NBA’s best, including Curry.
“[Steph Curry] has & does things that I feel are more tangible for me to pick up because LeBron’s 6’9, one of the players of all time. It’s really hard to replicate that… He wrote down everything for me,” Hayes-Davis said.
Hayes-Davis is not yet an NBA star. He has recently signed a contract extension with Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, ensuring his place with the team through the 2026–27 season.

“It was Curry, for sure. Curry was… And they had that Bay Area little rivalry. When I first got to the league, the Warriors wasn’t really good. They were kind of on the fence of being good. So like, Curry was one,” Thomas said.
“That was one; that was a tough one. We had our battles, but yeah, he got me; he got me a few times. Until I tried to slowly start figuring it out. Then my opportunity came more. So that was the thing; he was getting me, and I couldn’t get back at him,” he added.
During his career, Thomas played against Curry 19 times in NBA games. Curry holds a 12-7 advantage in those matchups.
