The Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards is making his first appearance in the Olympics. The Wolves star made sure to set his remark in this appearance not only by his humorous entry, but also by light-hearted trash-talking with his Wolves teammate Nickeil Alexander-Walker.
During a recent FaceTime call, Alexander-Walker shared that the two have been bantering about their upcoming matchup.
“You know how he gets. I told him he’s not scoring. I told him I’m inviting any switch we need to, any island he wants to put me on, I’m good,” Walker said.
As part of Team USA’s preparation, they will play a series of exhibition games, starting with a matchup against Canada on Wednesday. While Canada has yet to announce its official roster for the Olympics, Alexander-Walker is expected to be included. Meanwhile, Edwards has already secured his spot on Team USA.
Before heading to Paris, Edwards competed at the FIBA World Cup in 2023. He made a significant impact, leading the team in scoring with an average of 18.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.

Kerr shared his candid thoughts on Edwards’ defensive capabilities, which he believes will be crucial for Team USA’s success at the Paris Olympics.
“If he wants to play, he better play defense. That’s the point. The whole point of FIBA is to defend, make stops, and get out and run,” Kerr said.
Kerr also stated the unique bond that Team USA’s 12 veteran NBA stars hold to represent America.
“That’s the beauty of being on this team. These guys, they’re all capable of taking over a game. And I think as they go, they realize that mentality, that aggressiveness, is actually a good thing, because they’re all committed to each other. They don’t want to disappoint one another. They want to make sure they’re bringing their best energy, best game to the floor every night for their team,” Kerr said in another interview.
