Imagine being cooked at your own show and not being able to do anything about it. The same was the case with Gilbert Arenas when Nick Young caught him off guard. Although the duo do not have any differences between them, Young made the most out of the moment while roasting Gil.
During a recent episode of the podcast Gil’s Arena, Nick Young got into another one-off banter with show host Gilbert Arenas. And all they had to talk about was something Arenas wouldn’t love doing. Young kept on roasting Gil while reminding him about the tap on the chest by LeBron James.
“For the championship because it’s a bigger, broader arena for media to come through as a different outlet. It ain’t just your regular local news. It’s the world coz everybody watching you so they need a bigger environment and it’s different times cause you know you got slots, you gotta do some shit you wouldn’t know. First round tap on the chest exit by LeBron okay. It ain’t that type of sh*t. So you learn sh*t,” Young said.

However, if all of this still doesn’t take you back in time, let’s squeeze your brain for a bit. The incident Young was talking about was the 2006 NBA playoffs when Arenas missed two crucial free throws. The Washington Wizards were ahead by one point against the Cavaliers, and Arenas had a chance to seal the game with those shots. LeBron James famously warned him that if he couldn’t make them, he would take matters into his own hands. Well, Arenas ended up missing both free throws. And shortly after that, LeBron found Damon Jones winning the series 4-2.

Gilbert Arenas Calls Out Double Standards Against LeBron James
Despite their rivalry, Gilbert Arenas recently stirred the pot by calling out the double standards against LeBron James. On his show ‘Agent Zero,’ Arenas made a compelling case for LeBron James. He passionately defended James, who is still shining in his 22nd NBA season. Arenas pointed out the glaring hypocrisy in how Michael Jordan’s time with the Wizards was treated. He noted that Jordan was celebrated just for showing up and averaging 20 points per game.

“The best 40-year-old that played was LeBron, the second-best was Michael Jordan. They didn’t expect anything from MJ, they was just so happy to see a 40-year-old go out there and average 20. Why is they putting so much effort on trying to tear LeBron down for just playing at 40, like we’re pretending he’ 20,” Arenas said.

Arenas really hit the nail on the head when he highlighted the unfair treatment LeBron faces compared to Michael. While Jordan was praised just for staying competitive at 40, James is held to a much higher standard, which feels a bit ridiculous. Arenas argues that we should be celebrating LeBron’s incredible durability, talent, and impact instead of focusing on any negatives, especially when he’s still performing like a top-tier player in the league.
