Kobe Bryant tragically passed away in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020, but his legacy continues to inspire excitement among NBA players. One notable incident occurred in December 2014 when the Los Angeles Lakers started the season with a disappointing 6-16 record.
Frustrated with the team’s poor performance, Bryant called all his teammates into the locker room to voice his concerns. “Now I see why we’ve lost so many games. We’re soft like Charmin!” he remarked. During a recent appearance on the Gil’s Arena show, former NBA player Nick Young recounted this incident, sharing that Jeremy Lin was so affected by Bryant’s infamous practice rant that he ended up in tears.
“It was mostly aimed at Jeremy Lin tell you the truth. People don’t know Jeremy Lin actually cried in the locker room that day… He was emotional.” Young said.

Bryant devoted his 20-year career to the Los Angeles Lakers, leading the franchise to five NBA Championships. His commitment to the game and the team resulted in a strong reaction toward Lin. However, this was not the only instance where Lin cried. In 2019, he became visibly emotional during a press conference.
Nick Young Criticizes Jeremy Lin For Silence During Kobe Bryant’s Infamous Practice Rant
During the interview, Young expressed his take on the situation. He mentioned that he expected Lin to find the courage to share his thoughts before Bryant. However, Lin chose to remain silent during that moment of confrontation. Later, Lin and Young had an honest discussion about what had happened.
“Kobe already in his Kobe zone, so he like, ‘Man, I ain’t talking to you mother****ers,… He (Lin) was like, ‘He won’t listen to me, man. What type of team are we if we can’t even talk to each other?’ I said, ‘F*** that’ to him. Kobe can’t do that in that moment. You gotta stand up for yourself. That’s why I was more mad at him. Say something to him. I don’t give a f*** if it was Kobe or not. S*** you on the court with him.” Young said.
