The Los Angeles Lakers have made waves in the NBA by agreeing to trade D’Angelo Russell, Maxwell Lewis, and three second-round draft picks to the Brooklyn Nets. In return, the Lakers will receive Dorian Finney-Smith and Shake Milton.
While the trade itself is a headline-grabber, former Lakers star Nick Young used the moment to reignite his long-standing feud with Russell. Young took to social media to deliver a harsh farewell message to Russell.
“AND STAY OUT… Dnt bring yo ass back to LA,” Young wrote on X.

The jab clearly indicates that Young has not forgiven Russell for a highly publicized incident from 2016. Eight years ago, Russell secretly recorded a private conversation in which Young discussed his relationship with another woman while engaged to rapper Iggy Azalea.
When the video leaked and went viral, it caused a media firestorm, ultimately leading to Young’s engagement ending. The fallout severely damaged the relationship between the two players.

“Talked to someone close to D’Angelo Russell. He’s excited for a new opportunity, obviously saw his role diminishing with Lakers. A MASSIVE few months for him as he heads into free agency this upcoming summer. Considering the market for Tyus Jones last summer, it could be an uphill battle,” the report read.
This trade marks another transition for Russell, who originally began his NBA journey with the Lakers in the 2015-16 season. After stints with other teams, he rejoined Los Angeles during the 2022-23 season. Over his two separate runs with the Lakers, Russell played 264 games and averaged 15.4 points, 4.9 assists, and 3.3 rebounds.
