The Los Angeles Clippers made a bold move in the 2019 off-season by acquiring Paul George, trading away significant assets including Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, five first-round picks, and two pick swaps to bolster their roster. In turn, George expressed a strong desire to bring a championship to the Clippers organization during his tenure.
In an old video from 2020 that resurfaced on social media recently, George passionately expressed his commitment to the Clippers.
“I owe them a trophy. That’s what I owe this organization. This is a window that we’re trying to capture. My commitment and my job is to bring a title here,” he said.
Despite his aspirations, George and the Clippers fell short of capturing the coveted championship during his time with the team. George recently declined his $48.8 million player option with the Clippers for the 2024–25 season. Following George’s decision, the Clippers officially announced their parting ways with the star forward.
With George set to enter free agency, teams across the NBA are now preparing to pursue the dynamic scorer, who averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game last season.
