The Knicks forward Josh Hart brought back on his “Roommates” show the controversial statement of Austin Rivers regarding NBA players succeeding in the field of football, but not the other way around. The 29-year-old asked the franchise’s former star Patrick Ewing whether he would have made the cut to the NFL roster in his days, and his answer made the co-hosts and teammates Hart and Jalen Brunson burst into laughter.
When the Knicks Iron Man asked Ewing, “Pat, do you think you could have made an NFL roster?” He answered in a straight “No” and then continued to add, “Nor would I even try. I remember when I came out, when I graduated from Georgetown, the Washington Redskins, at that time, wanted me to come try out for defensive end. I’m like, ‘Are you crazy? I’m the No. 1 pick and you want me to come try out for football? Nah.'”
Former Timberwolves guard Rivers received a lot of backlash for his remark on ‘The Pat McAfee Show, stating, “I can take 30 players right now in the NBA and throw them in the NFL. You cannot take 30 NFL players and put them in the NBA.”
With their show, the New York teammates are trying to distract their minds from the disappointing playoff loss after tasting success in the regular season. However, there are rumors of a potential reunion brewing, which could change the Knicks’ game in the upcoming season.
Josh Hart’s Reunion With Former Villanova Teammate Hits Roadblock
While the summer trade is around the corner, many link-ups are coming to the surface, among which is the Brooklyn Nets’ Mikal Bridges to the NY Knicks, where Josh Hart and his former Villanova teammates have gathered.
The Nets swingman won the NCAA championship with Josh Hart, Jalen Brunson, and Donte DiVincenzo in his Villanova days. Their assembly would make a great impact on the New York side, but that seems impossible as the Brooklyn franchise has a different plan. NBA insider Jake Fischer recently touched on the matter and said, “In some scenario where like OG is no longer part of NY, but I am not expecting that. That’s the only scenario I think it could happen.”

According to NBC Sports’ Kurt Helin, “The Nets have been consistent in saying they are hoping to use Bridges as a lure to bring another star to Brooklyn and build from there.”
As the Nets lagged behind this season at the 11th spot in the Eastern table, they would desperately want to change their roster to come back stronger next season.
