Another report of Ja Morant being investigated for violent behavior has surfaced while the point guard remains away from the Memphis Grizzlies.
TMZ Sports reported on Friday that the two-time All-Star was the subject of a probe after involvement in an altercation with a high school student in September. Ja was not charged with anything but police records note he confronted a high-schooler during an after-school volleyball game at Houston H.S. in Tennessee on September 22.
Witnesses told officers Ja’s sister, who was participating in the volleyball game, got into an argument with another student and called the guard after both parties called the other “bitch.”
Cops say Morant arrived at the gym shortly after, along with his parents, his baby daughter, and a group of adult males. According to documents, most of the group, excluding Ja’s father went into the stands to confront the student.
His mother, Jamie Morant, was heard asking “Which one of ya’ll called her a bitch?” before being told by police who were present that she “cannot come upstairs and confront the students and they did not need to make a scene at the school.”
The officers said that, while they were speaking, a male from Ja’s group pushed past them and walked toward the students. He is reported to have slapped a phone out of the hand of a student who was trying to take a photo of Ja and said, “I don’t care about none of that, I will beat y’alls ass.”

A witness claims the male “was about to pull a gun,” but cops said they never saw any firearm and everyone left the gym without further incident.
Ja was investigated for simple assault and intimidation but no physical contact. Charges were never filed, though both parties wanted to press them.
The police report also notes that the Grizzlies’ head of security, Kevin Helms, later went to the school to discuss the incident with the authorities and was asked to give a verbal trespass warning to all of the parties at the behest of the principal.
