The NBA franchises showed their star-studded roster for the 2024-25 season during the media day on Monday, September 30. Many star players answered exciting questions about the game and their other inclinations. New Orleans Pelicans star forward Zion Williamson was an exception, as he was asked an absurd question that made him leave the interview.
The two-time NBA All-Star forward was asked about his music playlist. Zion, a dedicated rap lover, named a few musicians and their songs that he frequently listened to and said, “Notorious B.I.G. Ready to Die, that’s always in the mix. Nas, Illmatic. Gotta throw Larry June up there. A lot of Curren$y. When I started training, I feel like Curren$y was heavy in the mix.”
However, a reporter’s counter-question made him walk out mid-interview. Zion was asked about the absence of Kendrick Lamar’s songs in his playlist. “Jesus Christ… What made you ask that second question?” Williamson replied, laughing.
The reporter named a couple of songs by Lamar and said, “Where was the greatness of the summer in your tracklist?” Zion wasn’t bothered about explaining his preference and said, “C’mon, it’s Kendrick Lamar. Like, I really got to sit up here and talk about how good of an artist he is.” Avoiding any further conversation on the topic, the Pelicans forward ended his presser early as he walked away.
What To Expect From Zion Williamson In The 2024-25 Season?
With two-time NBA All-Star Zion Williamson’s strong return in the last season, the New Orleans Pelicans won 49 games, the most since the 2008-09 season. The Pelicans lost the NBA Play-in game against the Los Angeles Lakers, where Zion scored 40 points and suffered an injury. The injury made him miss the playoffs as New Orleans lost against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round.
