Giannis Antetokounmpo has done it! The Greek star has led his nation to the Olympics for the first time since 2008. After the win over Croatia in the qualifiers final to qualify for Paris 2024 Olympics, Antetokounmpo left a message that shows exactly what he’s made of.
Following Greece’s 80-69 win on Sunday, Giannis Antetokounmpo was visibly emotional. The Bucks forward was seen sitting, holding his head in disbelief at the magnitude of the achievement. After getting a grip of himself, Giannis took to social media and shared a powerful message. “I have never cheat the game.. See you in Paris,” wrote the 2-time MVP.
4-year-old Liam Antetokounmpo was seen cheering his father and holding a board with “Paris 2024 Bound” written on it. Giannis contributed with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists in the win that helped Greece punch their ticket to Paris.

“We knew that we had the opportunity to do something we hadn’t done for years. We came in, knowing we had 4 finals to play. I’m happy about how the games went,” Giannis said to start the post-game press conference. He credited coach Vasilis Spanoulis for revitalizing the team and bringing back the hunger for success.
Giannis revealed how he told his wife to wear the same t-shirt when Greece lost to Croatia in 2020. It gave him a sense of strength to remember the failure, and he showed it on the court.

Greece will be in group A alongside Spain, Australia, and Canada. The Aussies are the defending bronze medalists of the Olympics, and Canada will be led by the charismatic NBA duo of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jamal Murray.
For Giannis, this year has been bittersweet. His calf injury in April proved costly for the Milwaukee Bucks. Without him, the NBA side was dispatched by the Pacers in the first round with Giannis watching from the sidelines. Now with him back to full fitness, the challenge will only pick up from here on as they’ll have a fortnight to prepare.
