New York Knicks center Nerlens Noel filed a lawsuit against his former agent Rich Paul for breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract and negligence. In the suit, he is claiming Paul and his firm, Klutch Sports, cost him $58 million in potential salary while Paul represented him from 2017 to 2020.
Former Cleveland Cavaliers big man Kendrick Perkins took to Twitter this week and stated that Noel needs to tell the entire truth about what happened, but Noel had an issue with his statement.
Noel followed the advice of Paul, signing a single-year contract with the Mavericks for approximately $4.1 million.
His lawsuit centers on Paul advising him to reject a four-year, $70 million offer from the Mavericks in 2017 then not actually working to secure Noel bigger contracts in the ensuing years. In December 2017, Noel tore a ligament in his thumb and missed 42 games, leading to a drop in his stats.
Paul wants to be paid a $200,000 commission on Noel’s Knicks contract last season (4% of Noel’s $5 million salary). In his lawsuit, Noel argues “Paul played virtually no role” in the deal.

Noel’s new deal was negotiated by George Langberg of the GSL Sports Agency, who Noel hired in December 2020.
