The New York Knicks put forth their best efforts in the last NBA season, reaching the playoff semi-finals for the second straight season. They dominated the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round but ultimately lost to the Indiana Pacers in the conference semi-finals. As the new NBA season begins, fans are hopeful for the team’s success. Meanwhile, NBA legend Walt Frazier stirred controversy when asked if the current Knicks are the best team ever.
The Knicks made some excellent moves in the offseason by acquiring Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges. The team now boasts a strong lineup that includes star player Jalen Brunson, along with Josh Hart, OG Anunoby, Towns, and Bridges. Many NBA analysts and fans are praising this lineup, but Frazier has a different opinion.
During a recent appearance on the Run It Back Podcast, Frazier was asked his opinion on the current Knicks roster and whether the Knicks are a significant threat to the defending champions, the Boston Celtics.
“Bullsh**! There’s the best starting five there is,” Frazier said.
Walt Frazier was part of the greatest starting five in Knicks history. He led the team to two NBA championships in 1970 and 1973. Therefore, his criticism of the current Knicks roster carries weight, as he played for the team for 10 seasons.

In a recent game against the Indiana Pacers, the Knicks star scored 26 points, along with five assists and five rebounds. However, Frazier remains hesitant to label Brunson as the franchise’s greatest of all time (GOAT).
“My greatest Knick is Willis Reed. I learned from the captain. He was tenacious the way he played the game.” Frazier said during a recent interview on Run It Back Podcast.
Frazier has been increasingly vocal about his thoughts and opinions lately, captivating fans with his insights. Many are eagerly anticipating more of his commentary on the dynamics of the NBA.
