NBA veteran Kevin Garnett recently shared his honest thoughts about the Timberwolves’ new appearance on his podcast, KG Certified. He hasn’t been impressed by their play this season. He claimed they made the wrong move when they acquired Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo, Keita Bates-Diop, and a future first-round selection from the Detroit Pistons this summer.
Even though Garnett no longer holds an official role with the Timberwolves. He is still well-liked by the team and occasionally acts as a counselor when vital choices are being made. Garnett wants to see the Timberwolves win, and he thinks it would have been simpler for them if they had dealt Rudy Gobert this summer rather than Karl-Anthony Towns.
Garnett said, “We just swept that whole Minnesota thing under the rug. You’re supposed to trade Rudy Gobert, keep KAT, and go on. You didn’t wanna pay the man, what are we doing?”
Towns, one of the game’s top offensive centers, believed he had found a permanent home in Minnesota. Still, general manager Matt Lloyd felt it was time for a significant frontcourt makeover following the team’s defeat in the West Finals the previous season.
However, many people, including Garnett, would have traded Rudy Gobert for Towns. In 2022, the NBA Frenchman joined the Timberwolves in a massive blockbuster deal, but there were questions about whether it was the correct choice.

Edwards said, “We’re as soft as hell as a team. Not in terms of how we play against other teams, but internally. We struggle to communicate. It feels like we’re playing like a bunch of little kids out there. We need to sort this out because we can’t keep heading down this path.”
The Timberwolves had a strong 56-26 record and advanced far in the previous season’s playoffs. But there were great hopes for the 2024–25 season, especially with Edwards becoming a superstar. Regretfully, they have not lived up to those expectations in their current form.
