The Brooklyn Nets might not have impressed with their season performance, but their latest addition, Mikal Bridges, was nothing but remarkable. His phenomenal skills in the regular season attracted too many eyes in the summer trade, as claimed by an NBA Insider.
Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer recently stated, “Brooklyn Nets swingman Mikal Bridges, according to league sources, is a player to monitor among Utah’s most aggressive aspirations.”
Revealing his potential destinations, Fischer wrote, “The Jazz are said to be right in the mix with Houston, holding the No. 3 pick, and New York, where three of Bridges’ college teammates currently play, among the teams that continue to check with Brooklyn about the availability of its 27-year-old swingman.”
Out of the three teams that the reporter mentioned, the New York side has the best possibility to land Bridges because of his old connections. Knicks’ Josh Hart, Jalen Brunson and Donte DiVincenzo played with Bridges during their Villanova days. On seeing how the Villanova trio has impacted the team, the New York franchise would want to get the fourth piece as well to fulfill their championship dreams.
On the flip side, the Rockets and Jazz finished the season in the bottom half. The Houston side has been linked with Bridges for quite a while now and it’s no surprise they’ll push to make the trade happen in the summer.
Adding the supremely talented swingman to their roster might give them the hope of qualifying for the playoffs. However, a majority of the decision lies in the hands of the Nets, who are not willing to let Bridges go.

Why Nets Want to Keep Mikal Bridges?
Even though many suitors came asking for Mikal Bridges, the Brooklyn Nets shook their heads. They have clearly indicated that they are not interested in trading their best asset.
Bridges played all the regular season games in the recently concluded edition. While averaging 19.6 points from 43.6/37.2/81.4 shooting split. Aside his shooting and ball-handling, Bridges brings smart off the ball movement and guarding ability on the defensive phase.
The franchise knows the ability to land a better player than Bridges with their current form is next to impossible. They are currently incapable of changing their entire roster. So, the only way to make it work amongst competitive teams is by keeping the guard.
However, the Brooklyn side has multiple future draft picks for them thanks to their trade of Kevin Durant in 2023. This year they might not have a pick, but a first-round draft pick second year could turn their fortunes.
Keeping Bridges becomes a top priority in the summer for the Nets. But that could change if major offers come in the summer that can land them a comparable calibre star.
