LeBron James on Monday night proved again that it doesn’t matter if he is playing or not, he is the walking blockbuster of the league who can move needles at his will even without on-court action. The 39-year-old was seen on his old stomping ground, the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, attending game 4 between the Cavs and the Celtics.
While the 4-time NBA Champion was welcomed by the Cleveland faithful with a thunderous ovation, rumor mills started spinning about his future. Following the disappointing exit with the Lakers, LBJ’s future with the franchise has taken over the tabloids and after this cameo in Cleveland, more and more reports are coming out about it.
On the latest episode of “Unsportsman Like Radio”, Brian Windhorst touched on the LeBron James situation. According to the insider, “he’s extremely strategic and I wish I could tell you I knew exactly what he is doing. I don’t pretend to know, but he’s gotta be up to something.” Windhorst mentioned the situation from 10 years ago when he went to watch a Cleveland game while playing for the Heat to attend the jersey retirement ceremony of Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Pat Riley was offended by it and, after a few months, LeBron was back sporting the Cavs threads.
History could repeat itself again, but according to Windhorst, Jeanie Buss would not have the same reaction as Pat Riley.
LeBron James’ Agent Reportedly Informed Lakers of Cleveland Visit
Since the playoff exit of the Lakers, the franchise has reportedly been desperate to have LeBron back next season. Some reports also suggested that the LA franchise could even draft Bronny James to keep the forward around. So for the Lakers to have a volatile reaction to LeBron attending the Cavs game will undoubtedly be a boomerang scenario.

On the latest episode of “Get Up” on ESPN, Brian Windhorst revealed that LeBron’s agent, Rich Paul, informed the franchise beforehand of his client’s Cleveland visit. Even if the Cavs want to have a reunion with James, it might prove difficult given their salary cap situation, but at the moment, the visit seemed to be a brilliant tactic from LeBron to mount pressure on the Lakers.
Even with the talks of the Cavs, the situation will not clear up until after the 2024 Paris Olympics and only after that the next move of the King can be clearly examined.
