LeBron James has made it no secret that he would like to play with his oldest son, Bronny James, before he retires from the NBA. In fact, he even said himself that his last season in the league will be with Bronny, wherever that may be.
The assumption is that if Bronny Jr. is drafted, it won’t be until 2024. James is currently 37-years-old, which means he’d be 39 at the start of the 2024-25 season. I’m sure there are several teams who would still take a chance on him at that age…
But will they want Bronny? Will James’ oldest son actually be good enough to make the NBA?
NBA Insider Brian Windhorst made an appearance on the Dan Patrick Show, where he discussed Bronny’s future prospects. He even had some interesting things to say about his younger brother, Bryce James.
Windhorst notes that, while skilled and very well-conditioned, Bronny is currently a 4-star recruit. And while that likely means he’ll get plenty of attention from some big-time college programs, it certainly doesn’t guarantee him a spot in the NBA.
While talking about this, however, Windhorst did briefly point out that he’s heard 14-year-old Bryce James may actually be the more talented of the basketball-playing brothers.
“There are people who told me that Bryce actually might be the better prospect amongst the two.”

It’s very likely that Bronny and Bryce continue to get compared, not only to their father, but to each other as well, as they each attempt to carve out their own careers on the hardcourt.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has already come out and said that he wouldn’t burn a second-round pick on Bronny James, just to have a shot at getting LeBron on his team as well. Will other owners feel the same way?
Either way, it sounds like Bronny’s really going to have to earn the chance to play alongside his dad in the NBA.
