Scottie Pippen has once again been the subject of mockery from the fans. This time, the NBA legend is being accused of using an AI generated picture of himself rather than an archived one. The incident took place when Scottie Pippen posted on his Instagram holding a ball from 1991. According to Pippen’s caption, the ball in question dates back to Game 5 of the 1991 NBA finals where Pippen faced off against the Lakers.
“June 12, 1991. The night the game changed forever. We were the underdogs, facing Magic Johnson and the Lakers—the giants of basketball. But when the buzzer sounded in Game 5, their dynasty ended, and a new one was born,” Pippen captioned his Instagram post. He also went on to say that the item has now been tokenized and he wanted the basketball community to have it.
But eagle eyed fans were immediately concerned about the picture that came along with the post. In the Instagram post, Pippen could be seen relaxing on a flight with his headphones on. Resting on his lap is the ball from 1991. But fans quickly alleged that it was a picture generated by AI and was not a real picture.
The biggest reason fans seemed to be confused was the fact an actual picture of Pippen with the ball was available! Thus, it took no time for the fans to start mocking the Bulls legend.

Another fan echoed similar sentiment saying, “Something about this photo looks ai generated.”
This fan seemed to be significantly angry at the NBA legend. The comment read, “Shame to put ai to promote authentik greatness… I’m a real Scottie fan, I can remember that moment you are talking about but that “pic” ain’t sh*t 2 me…”
Another fan quickly detailed why this image was surely an AI. The comment read, “Proof that this image is Al: The signature on the ball is Adam Silver. Back in 1991 the NBA Commissioner was David Stern, who had a very different signature. That is definitely not a 1991 NBA ball. Also his sweatshirt should have the NBA logo, his face looks off, and the hands are weird. One of the greatest players of all time is using an Al generated image to sell “tokens”. WTF”
Thus, getting into yet another controversy, it remains to be seen if Scottie Pippen replies back regarding the latest fiasco.
