The LA Clippers ace Paul George has recently been grabbing attention because of his linkups with the Golden State Warriors. While many feel this would be the perfect turn in his career, Stephen A. Smith begs to differ.
While discussing George’s potential trade to the Warriors, Smith said on ESPN, “I just don’t view him as a catch and shoot guy. I view him as somebody that has the potential to disrupt their rhythm. He’s better suited for the Clippers. He’s better suited for Philadelphia. He would have been better suited for the New York Knicks to some degree, rather than Golden State. That’s just how I view it.”
The analyst’s bold criticism soon spread on the internet, furious the NBA community. As NBA Central posted his take on X (FKA Twitter), the fans dropped in their comments.
“This man proves everyday that he doesn’t even watch basketball”, wrote a fan after reading what the veteran analyst stated.
Another commented, “Paul George shoots 45% on catch and shoot threes lmfao tf he talk bout”.

“I think it’s time for Stephen A. to hang it up”, suggested someone.
One fan added, “Stephen a sounding like he has never watched Paul George play basketball before is on brand.”
Someone added an amusing comment, “Impressive how he is able to be wrong about everything he says”.
“Can we get takes from legitimate NBA analysts?” asked one of the fans in frustration.
Most of the fans have mentioned PG-13’s average shooting rate, 45.5%, which is quite impressive. Yet Smith believes the San Francisco franchise’s playing style would be disrupted with the 34-year-old’s arrival. Besides stunning the fans with his odd opinion of Paul George, Smith was able to get on the nerves of another Clippers player.
Clippers Player Defends Paul George After SAS Comments
While Paul George has not reacted to Smith’s comment yet, his teammate Terance Mann extended his support for the 9-time All-Star. Contradicting the analyst, Mann stated on X, “Wait in what world is PG not a catch a shoot player? I’m confused”.
Playing beside the sharpshooter Stephen Curry, with his outstanding skills, George can contribute greatly at both ends of the court.
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst recently highlighted that the LA franchise might not provide Paul George with the maximum contract. On the flip side, the Warriors are searching for a veteran figure to replace Klay Thompson. A glimpse of George’s fate will soon be out in public when the free agency market opens.
