The highly anticipated Emirates NBA Cup 2024 is set to kick off on Tuesday, November 12. This will mark the NBA’s second-ever in-season tournament, featuring a series of Group Play games leading up to the exciting knockout stages.
2024 NBA CUP Group Play Schedule
The Group Play games for the Emirates NBA Cup will be held on specific dates, all falling on Tuesdays and Fridays:
- Tuesdays: November 12, 19, 26; December 3
- Fridays: November 15, 22, 29
Knockout Stages
Following the group play, the tournament will advance to the knockout stages:
- Quarterfinals: December 10–11
- Semifinals: December 14
Championship: December 17 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Team Groups
The group stage will consist of six groups, evenly split between the Eastern and Western Conferences. Each group will comprise five teams, bringing a total of 30 NBA teams into the initial phase of the tournament. This format ensures a competitive environment where teams from the same conference will face off against each other.

Meanwhile, all the NBA teams have been randomly drawn into groups of five within their respective conferences. These groups were based on their win-loss records from the 2023–24 regular season.
Eastern Conference:
- Group A: New York Knicks, Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn Nets, Charlotte Hornets
- Group B: Milwaukee Bucks, Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat, Toronto Raptors, Detroit Pistons
- Group C: Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls, Atlanta Hawks, Washington Wizards
Western Conference:
- Group A: Minnesota Timberwolves, LA Clippers, Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers
- Group B: Oklahoma City Thunder, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, Utah Jazz, San Antonio Spurs
- Group C: Denver Nuggets, Dallas Mavericks, New Orleans Pelicans, Golden State Warriors, Memphis Grizzlies.
Incentives and Rewards
Players competing in the Emirates NBA Cup have more than just bragging rights on the line. The tournament offers significant prize money based on how far their teams advance.
- Championship Winner: Each player earns $500,000.
- Runner-up: Each player receives $200,000.
- Semifinalists: Each player gets $100,000.
- Quarterfinalists: Each player earns $50,000.
MVP and All-Tournament Team Honors
After the league identifies the winner of the Emirates NBA Cup, it will recognize the Most Valuable Player of the competition and select the All-Tournament Team.
