The debate over the GOAT in the NBA is a topic that never seems to get old. For years, fans and even players have been split between Michael Jordan and LeBron James. Michael Jordan, with his six championships with the Chicago Bulls, set a standard that many still consider the pinnacle of basketball greatness.
On the other hand, LeBron James, with his longevity and numerous records, has solidified his own case for being called the GOAT. Recently, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver added some fuel to the fire. During an interview on Wednesday, popular social media content creator Eric “Eruption” Tai asked Silver who he thought was the NBA’s GOAT.
Without hesitation, Silver named “Michael Jordan.” The commissioner was aware of the sensitivity of the topic, especially with the inevitable comparison to LeBron James. Hence, Silver quickly added, “And don’t tell LeBron I said that.”
This playful jab was well-received by many fans, who appreciated the commissioner’s sense of humor and his bold pick. Many fans who also support Jordan as the GOAT voiced their agreement with Silver.

However, not everyone sided with the commissioner. LeBron’s fans were quick to react, with some claiming that Silver’s choice proved he didn’t fully appreciate LeBron’s all-around talent and impact on the game. They argued that LeBron’s endurance and achievements over his lengthy career were things that Jordan never reached.
Denzel Washington Praises LeBron And Bronny’s Iconic Father-Son NBA Moment
Recently, Hollywood star Denzel Washington shared his thoughts on LeBron James being the first NBA player to share the court with his son, Bronny James. In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Washington connected it to his own experiences watching his son, John David Washington, take on challenging acting roles.
“I could only imagine what it must’ve felt like for LeBron. In the case of my son with The Piano Lesson, he was shooting, and we were on the set. And I told my producing partner, Todd, ‘Man, I’m going home. There’s really nothing for me to do here. He’s got it covered.’ And I went home; I went back to Los Angeles,” Washington said.
LeBron continues to play with the Lakers while Bronny is sharpening his skills in the G-League. The path for Bronny to end up like his father on the Lakers remains uncertain, but the support LeBron has shown his son is unwavering.
