Two-time NBA champion Kawhi Leonard was an integral part of Team USA’s Olympic roster. But he couldn’t make it to the Paris Olympics because of his injuries. This decision set off a chain reaction and sparked controversy when Derrick White stepped in as Kawhi’s replacement.
Despite being the NBA Finals MVP, it remains a mystery to Jaylen Brown why Nike and Team USA selected White instead of him for the Olympics. Brown’s recent remarks over the snub have added more fire to the Nike issue.
Jaylen has always been vocal about Nike’s business practices. Many believe that the relationship between Nike and the Celtics’ guard isn’t in good shape, and Brown himself seems to think so.
Following Derrick White’s inclusion to the team, he hinted at his displeasure against Nike with a cryptic social media post. When recently asked if he thought Nike played a role in his exclusion from Team USA, He made a critical comment that made the issue even worse.
Jaylen said, “I do (think Nike had something to do with being left off) for sure. It will be more stuff to come with that but as of now, I’m not going to comment on it.” Although he initially said he didn’t want to comment, his remarks strongly implied that he feels Nike played a significant role in his Team USA snub.
Brown and Nike have already been at odds, and these comments will only harden the situation. However, its potential impact on the upcoming Olympics remains to be seen.

Jaylen Brown Suggests Bronny James Isn’t Set for NBA
Recently, Jaylen Brown took some time to watch the Boston Celtics play against Bronny James and the Los Angeles Lakers in the Las Vegas Summer League. Bronny struggled to score during the game and even missed a 3-point shot, making it 0-15 in Summer League play.
Jaylen was seated courtside with his girlfriend, Kysre Gondrezick, and WNBA rookie standout Angel Reese. Caught on NBA TV’s sideline cameras, he seemed to say, “I don’t think Bronny is a pro.” The camera also caught his girlfriend to respond, “I think he’ll be on the G-League team, for sure.” In response, Brown said, “I don’t think so, I think because of his name, he’ll be on the Lakers.”
Unfortunately, none of those comments could be heard, and they have started to spread based on reading Brown’s lips. Fans can only guess what Brown actually said.
