After forming a superteam at the Dallas Mavericks with Kyrie Irving and PJ Washington, Luka Doncic fell just short of his NBA championship dream. The Mavericks lost 4-1 against the Boston Celtics in the 2024 NBA Finals. After the Finals loss, Doncic failed to qualify for the Paris Olympics 2024 with Slovenia, and now the fans and analysts have shared concerns about the Slovenian guard’s increasing size.
Doncic appeared last week at his compatriot Goran Dragic’s farewell game, Night of the Dragon. The 25-year-old guard is subjected to fat shaming after the game in Slovenia. Some fans reacted hilariously by comparing Luka’s body to Jokic’s.
Regarding his weight, NBA analyst Jason Timpf called out Doncic for being out of shape. The Hoops Tonight host compared the 2024 scoring champion’s different sizes and agreed with the size advantage in the NBA.
In a video posted by The Volume on X, Timpf said, “There was a video that was going around of Luka’s game-winner against the Clippers in the bubble in 2020. And he looked like really thin compared to the way he looks now. I do agree that there’s an advantage that comes from being bigger and strong. That’s just a fact. And I’m sure there are some situations now where Luka is able to bully some players that maybe he didn’t used to be able to.”
Jason Timpf Claims Luka Doncic Was In Peak Shape With Same Weight
The NBA analyst continued examining Luka’s shape and believed that the Mavericks guard already had his peak shape with a similar weight. Timpf continued, “Luka was still bullying guys back then. And I’m not saying that he needs to just go get skinny.”
He added, “Ideally, there’s a version of this where he is in peak shape and has the same amount of weight maybe that he has now. But it’s more functional because it makes him mobile because it’s muscle instead of body fat.”
