After finishing seventh in the Western Conference standings last season, the New Orleans Pelicans suffered a first-round exit in the 2024 NBA playoffs. While the Pelicans are much relieved with Zion Williamson’s return last season, they have acquired Dejounte Murray from the Atlanta Hawks to improve their playoff run in 2025. However, a big question mark revolves around Brandon Ingram.
With the return of the two-time NBA All-Star forward and the remarkable signing of the 2022 steals leader, the Pelicans seem strong. NBA analyst Marc J. Spears believes that New Orleans could become a dominant force in the league depending on their star forward, Brandon Ingram.
Spears talked about Trey Murphy III, C.J. McCollum, Zion Williamson, and Dejounte Murray looking in good rhythm at last week’s practice session in New Orleans. However, the ESPN analyst mentioned a notable absentee, the 2020 Most Improved Player, who also missed a mini-camp held in California.
On ESPN’s NBA Today, he said, “What kind of Brandon Ingram arrives in New Orleans? Time will tell. If he comes ready to play, the Pelicans could be a force.”
Who Will Start As New Orleans Pelicans Center In The 2024-25 Season?
While Ingram’s trade rumors circulated throughout the summer, the Pelicans couldn’t land a deal. Spears claimed New Orleans could become a formidable side in the upcoming season subject to the star’s mindset.

New Orleans Pelicans head coach Willie Green will have to start a new center in the upcoming season after Jonas Valančiūnas signed a three-year contract with the Washington Wizards. Although they obtained a center in Yves Missi in the 2024 NBA Draft, German center Daniel Theis is another option.
