The NBA announced the 2024-24 season schedule on Thursday, and the Los Angeles Lakers legend LeBron James will play his 22nd regular season. The Purple and Gold will make history with the first-ever father-son duo in LeBron and his son Bronny to feature in the NBA this season. According to The Athletic’s Jovan Buha, the Lakers have decided to send Bronny to the developmental G League to start the season.
After winning the 2024 NBA Finals, the Boston Celtics took the lead in the NBA championship race with 18 titles, compared to the Lakers’ 17. LeBron James and Co. will look to clinch the title this season and level the Celtics. Ahead of the NBA 2024-25, here is the complete breakdown of the Los Angeles Lakers regular season games.
Los Angeles Lakers 2024-25 Season Schedule
On Tuesday, October 22, the Lakers will tip off their 77th regular season at home against Anthony Edwards’ Minnesota Timberwolves. The Lakers’ schedule features 80 games, with two December games to be decided following their NBA Cup standings.
For the 26th consecutive year, the Lakers will play on Christmas Day, this time in an away fixture against Stephen Curry’s Golden State Warriors. On January 13, the Lakers will retire legend Michael Cooper’s No. 21 jersey during their home game against the San Antonio Spurs.
The Los Angeles Lakers legend played 12 years in the NBA and earned NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 1987. He has also been on the NBA All-Defensive First Team five times. In addition to his jersey retirement, Cooper’s induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame will take place in October.
West Group B includes the defending champions, LA Lakers, alongside the San Antonio Spurs, Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz, and Oklahoma City Thunder. The Lakers will face the Spurs on the road in their opening NBA Cup group stage clash, followed by two home games against the Suns and Thunder.
