The Oklahoma City Thunder emerged victorious over the New Orleans Pelicans in Game 1 of the first-round playoffs. It was a thrilling game where both teams gave their best effort. However, the OKC was able to secure the victory over the Pelicans.
A video of a segment from the game has surfaced online that asks the fans about their opinion on a foul call. In the video, Pelicans’ star Larry Nance Jr. can be seen trying to block a shot attempt from OKC star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. He was unsuccessful in doing so and was called out for a foul, which gave the OKC a basket and free throws.
Larry’s look after the foul call was very telling of the thoughts going through his mind. He was disappointed and his entire body language changed after the shot went out. Shai, on the other hand, was very happy with the call and lifted his hands up in celebration after the shot went through.
Reaction of NBA Fans to Larry Nance Jr.’s foul on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
The NBA fans were quick to flood the comments section on social media to express their opinion on the foul call. One fan commented, “Most Valuable Foul Baiter,” taking a dig at his MVP contender ship while also calling him a foul baiter. Another fan commented, “That wasn’t a foul. He played good defense. The ref bailed Shai out,” highlighting that Larry didn’t commit a foul and blaming the referee for bailing out Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Another fan commented, “Bad call, not a natural shooting motion. Refs need to stop calling this,” highlighting that they made a bad call and need to stop this habit. Another comment said, “should’ve been offensive. Refs gave up on calling these, I guess,” suggesting the call should have been an offensive foul instead of a defensive one.
Another fan commented, “Horrendous call. One of the many calls that gave OKC a win when they damn sure should’ve and would’ve lost the game if not given the calls,” blaming the referees for bad calls that resulted in OKC winning the game. Another comment said, “Can’t be MVP; this is the most shameless, disgraceful, disgusting thing ever,” blaming Shai for baiting players into fouls.
Another fan commented, “Foul, why are you so close to and leaning forward,” calling the decision good. Another comment said, “Good call; he moved toward Shai; it could have been a flagrant 1 if the refs wanted: Do not slide underneath jump shooters; it is that simple; the rule has nothing to do with showing hands, etc,” supporting the call and giving a proper explanation for it as well.
