On Monday, the NBA world was turned upside down when TMZ dropped a damning report of Luke Walton being sued for sexual assault by a sports reporter.
Since the intial report dropped, more disturbing details have emerged.
Former L.A. sports reporter Kelli Tennant claims Sacramento Kings head coach Luke Walton sexually assaulted her in May of 2017.
According to the lawsuit, Walton allegedly forced himself onto her in his hotel room after he invited her up to discuss potentially writing the foreword of a book she was working on. Instead of doing that, she stated Walton pinned her down to the bed, kissed and groped her despite her screaming to stop.
She said he let her up but forced himself against her again, groping her breasts and groin, and rubbed his erection on her leg.He would eventually allow her to leave the room.
“Tennant claims when Walton finally released his grasp, she opened the door and left, but could hear him say, “Good to see you.”
Tennant claims she did not initially report Walton’s conduct but was forced to continually interact with him because of her job. She says each time she saw him, Walton would impose himself on her with a big hug or a kiss, even though she thought she made it clear his advances were unwanted.
In the suit, Tennant claims on one occasion, Walton greeted her by uttering, “vulgar, guttural sounds at her” and said, “mmmm … you’re killing me in that dress.” She says he then forced an aggressive hug on her and rubbed his body against hers.”
The Kings released a statement on the matter, via The Athletic’s Sam Amick, “We are aware of the report and are gathering additional information. We have no further comment at this time.”
