On Sunday night, the Minnesota Timberwolves lost 3-0 to the Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals and are on the brink of elimination. The Mavs dominated thanks to Luka Doncic’s historical performance in the series, and the Minnesota side looked like an inferior side. Anthony Edwards‘ difficult series has been compounded by Karl-Anthony Towns’ awful scoring form, who has been a constant offensive threat for the Wolves.
After the game, when KAT was asked about his shooting troubles, he said, “I’ve got to laugh. I’m putting up to 1500 shots a day. Shot so well all playoffs, confidence extremely high. To be having these unfortunate bounces and these looks that are just not going in, it’s tough. It’s tough, for sure.”
Blaming the unfortunate bounce off the rim as the cause of his struggle wasn’t probably the best idea, as the ball would’ve passed through the hoop if it was accurate enough in the first place. Pointing this mentality out, the Lakers’ legend Shaquille O’Neal called out Towns after the game, and he was far from happy with the big Dominican.
Shaquille O’Neal Slams Karl-Anthony Towns Mindset
Shaquille O’Neal made his long-awaited return to the panel of “Inside The NBA” on TNT following a brief hiatus. After the Timberwolves’ 116-107 loss, the panel discussed the game where Karl-Anthony Towns was one of the talking points.
Shaq slammed Town’s mindset and said, “KAT has not stepped up. 0/8 from three is unacceptable. After you shoot two threes and it don’t go down take your big ass in the lane and do what Chuck has been talking about.”

“The fact that he is not upset that he played terrible showed me that he’s not ready yet,” O’Neal said, “Kobe missed the last shot, you better not say nothing to him on the plane. Penny Hardaway missed the last pass, you better not say nothing to him. I miss 2-3 free throws, don’t say nothing.”
Karl-Anthony Towns has been in an awful shooting stretch, with his 3-point shooting currently standing at 13.6%, the lowest in NBA Conference Finals history.
He might be shooting 1500 shots, but in the end, the result must be on the court. Towns has failed to show that until now, but he and his Timberwolves side will get a chance to save the series on Tuesday as they take on the Mavs for game 4.
