Two-time NBA All-Star Anthony Edwards has become a big name in the league in his first four seasons. Last season, the shooting guard led the Timberwolves in scoring and steals and helped Minnesota advance to the playoffs for the first time in 20 years. In the 2023-24 NBA season, Anthony Edwards registered career highs in scoring, assisting, and shooting percentage from the field. He averaged 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.3 steals with 46.1% shooting from the field. In the playoffs, the 23-year-old averaged 27.6 points, 7 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game as the Wolves lost the Conference Finals against the Dallas Mavericks.
During the Minnesota Timberwolves media day, Edwards was asked whether he could become the next NBA MVP. The Wolves’ star guard responded positively and claimed that’s the only thing he has in sight. He said. “Yeah, hell yeah, for sure, no question. And that’s what I’m going for. At this point, ain’t nothing else to go for… I’m definitely going for it.”

The Nuggets center was followed by Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks.
Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, New York Knicks captain Jalen Brunson, and Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics make up the top six. Anthony Edwards finished seventh for the 2023-24 NBA Most Valuable Player award, receiving six votes.
