Even after exiting early from the playoff tournament, Milwaukee Bucks‘ Patrick Beverley captured the attention of the NBA world with his bold statement regarding his free agency and performance in the post-season tournament.
During a recent episode of “The Pat Bev Podcast,” Beverly said, “I want to stay with Milwaukee. I want to see what goes here, but you know, I also played well enough in the playoffs to get a little bump, you know? That’s the business side of it. So whatever happens with that happens.”
Despite the combo guard believing that he “played well enough” in his first season at the Bucks to deserve a raise, his numbers have proved otherwise. After getting ample time (35 minutes per game) on the court for 6 games in the round one playoff series against the Indiana Pacers, Beverly managed to put up an average of 8.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game.
His best performance was in Game 5, where he contributed a double-double with 13 points and 12 assists while maintaining a 50+ shooting percentage from both the field and the 3-point range and helped the Bucks with a 115-92 victory, but ultimately lost the series in the following game.
The 35-year-old, who will be heading towards free agency in the summer, seems to be quite satisfied with his input, but his claim didn’t sit well with the NBA fans on social media.
