Milwaukee Bucks’ forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo will undergo surgery after tearing his Achilles tendon, as confirmed by NBA analyst and insider Shams Charania in a recent social media post on X (formerly known as Twitter).
“Milwaukee Bucks forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo has sustained a torn Achilles tendon and will undergo surgery,” Shams Charania posted on X.
It is unclear how Thanasis Antetokounmpo sustained the injury. However, it is expected that he will be out of basketball action for an extended period of time. Antetokounmpo has played six seasons in the NBA and has averaged 2.4 points in 198 regular-season games. He won his maiden championship with the Bucks in 2021.
Thanasis Unlikely To Be Fit Before Start of New Season
Thanasis Antetokounmpo’s team was eliminated early from the playoff series due to their loss in game six against the Indiana Pacers. Unfortunately, Antetokounmpo is unlikely to be fit before the start of the 2024-25 season due to his lengthy recovery process.
He will also be eligible for free agency. However, his chances of receiving any offers are very low because of the seriousness of the injury he has sustained.
