After Chris Paul inked a contract to play with Victor Wembanyama with the San Antonio Spurs, former Dallas Cowboys great Dez Bryant made a daring prediction. The Golden State Warriors released Paul to become a free agent, and he signed with the Spurs right away.
Bryant expressed his admiration for Paul and Wembanyama’s coupling in a post on his official X account. The Spurs were a fantastic fit since they don’t have a true playmaker to facilitate the season for the NBA Rookie of the Year. Bryant, though, went one step further and said that CP3 may eventually win his first title with the Spurs the following season.
Bryant posted on X, “I love this. Chris Paul might get his first championship ring next year!”
Last season, Chris Paul was a member of the Golden State Warriors’ reserve team. Paul was helpful at times. However, halfway through the campaign, he broke his hand. Golden State’s season was disappointing as they were eliminated from the playoffs following their defeat by the Sacramento Kings in the NBA Play-In Tournament.
Spurs supporters have previously witnessed Paul’s ability to dissect defenses when he picks and rolls with Victor Wembanyama. Due to Paul’s alley-oop passes to Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, the LA Clippers became known as “Lob City” throughout his tenure. Wembanyama’s roll to the hoop presents the veteran with yet another excellent target for those lobs.
Despite the Presence of Chris Paul, Victor Wembanyama Is Unlikely to Win the NBA Scoring Championship
The San Antonio Spurs haven’t had a scoring champion on their team in thirty years. In 1994, David Robinson captured his lone NBA scoring championship in a close victory over Shaquille O’Neal.

Even with Chris Paul’s arrival, Victor Wembanyama is unlikely to join him on that list. CP3 will be the man in charge, and Wemby will have easier baskets with a stronger team surrounding him. However, Gregg Popovich’s Spurs always play team ball. John Lucas was the coach when Robinson earned the scoring title.
Victor Wembanyama will be Popovich’s focal point of the offense, but the Spurs will function as a unit. In addition to getting his shots, the Frenchman will play decoy to offer his teammates open looks. In addition, Wembanyama does not possess the ball as much as current scoring leader Luka Doncic.
